The Environmental Management Authority (EMA) via its iCARE project is proud to be a contributing partner at CARIFESTA XIV, in support of the green objectives of the CARICOM Secretariat and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC).
The EMA is the agency responsible for the management of the Green Fund sponsored, iCARE Project, which has been operational since 2015. An ongoing objective of the iCARE project is to encourage the active participation of the public in collecting and responsibly disposing of recyclable beverage containers thereby reducing the volume of recyclable solid waste entering local landfills and polluting our environment.
iCARE will establish temporary recyclable collection sites at selective CARIFESTA Festival venues. With the added support of NGO and CBO partners, iCARE enlisted volunteers to enhance the presence of recycling bins at the major events such as the Grand Market-Green Space, Rhythms of the Caribbean, and Island Beats Super Concert to promote the collection of beverage containers for recycling.
The public is also invited to visit the iCARE booth at the CARIFESTA Grand Market from the 17th – 24th August, and walk with their reusable water bottles for refills, as the we feature iCARE Hydra-Stations at the Queen’s Park Savannah and Youth Village (Bishops).
